Resident Section Report
RSNJ Semi-Annual Meeting November 16, 2002
The process of forming a separate Resident Section as part
of the RSNJ is near completion. Letters were sent out to all residents in the state last
month informing them of the section, and also requesting their increased participation.
Those who were not yet members were asked to enroll. A separate letter was sent out to all
program directors and chief residents in radiology. The response has been very positive,
and most programs have nominated a resident liaison to the section, and some residents
have indicated their interest to actively participate in the section as officers. We have
been able to update our resident database, which will be done annually.
The RSNJ website has a separate section on residents, which we are making into a separate
sub web site with multiple pages and links, dealing with information on the section,
resident issues, program links, discussion forum, educational opportunities, among other
things. Over the next few days we will put up an online resident survey to identify
important issues facing the residents, which could be addressed through the section. I
received a letter from the ACR Office of Council and Chapter services complimenting on our
website, and they plan to highlight the process of formation of our resident section in
the next issue of 'ACR Chapter Executive Update'.
We are also in the process of making draft bylaws based on the ACR sample resident section
bylaws. The first meeting of the section is tentatively planned in January 2003.
I thank the RSNJ for its active support in this initiative.
